AMRITSAR: Two passengers, who had gone to Pakistan to celebrate Baisakhi, returned to India today after one of them lost his passport and the other's passport was mistakenly brought to India by his family.
Ferozepur resident Lakhbir Singh and Sangrur resident Nishabar Singh could not return to India despite the return of the Jatha.
Lakhbir Singh's passport was taken away by his family while Nishabar Singh, a resident of Sangrur, lost his passport. Following the efforts of Mr. Rana Shah Saleem, Secretary, Evacuee Trust Board and Mr. Amir Singh, President, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, the two returned to India today via Wagah Attari border. Mr. Amir Singh said that Lakhbir Singh's passport was recalled but due to expiration of his visa Lakhbir Singh's group could not return to India.
Similarly, Sangrur Nishabar Singh's passport was lost during the journey due to which he too could not come to India. Mr. Amir Singh said that these two pilgrims were brought back to Gurdwara Dehra Sahib Lahore from where their papers were reprinted and they were sent back to India.
Speaking to reporters at the Wagah border, Lakhbir Singh said, "I was at Gurdwara Panja Sahib during the trip when I lost my passport." Rana Shah Saleem and Mr. Amir Singh made great efforts to get my new passport ready immediately and send me to my family.
Similarly Nishabar Singh said that I am thankful to Evacuee Trust and Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee for running for me and today I am going back to India. Giani Ranjit Singh, Head Granthi Singh Sahib of Lahore Gurdwaras and Mr. Azhar Abbas, Caretaker of Gurdwara Dehra Sahib were also present on the occasion to release the pilgrims to the border.
