NAKODAR:The Nakodar city police have booked a travel agent for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 6 lakh on the pretext of sending her sons abroad.The accused has been identified as Gurprit Singh a Paajian village in Kapurthala.
The Investigating officer (IO) and Nakodar deputy superintendent of police Lakhwindar Singh Mall said that Sarabjit Kaur wife of Baldev Singh , a resident Nangal Ambian village in Shahkot complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that she had paid Rs 6 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her two son’s migration abroad.
However, the accused neither sent them abroad nor returned the money.
IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
