PANCHKULA: The Sikh organisations on Thursday assembled at Gurdawara Nadha Sahib in Panchkula district of Haryana dn conferred Fakhr-E-Kaum award on martyred acting Jathedar of Akal Takht Bhai Gurdev Singh Kaunke.
The award was received by Hari Singh Kaunke son of Bhai Gurdev Singh Kaunke. Bhai Gurdev Singh Kaunke was kidnapped and tortured to death by Punjab Police on January 1, 1993. However an inquiry report of Jathedar Kaunke's death, leaked recently has created uproar and anger among the Sikh community.
The Sikh organisation assembled at Nadha Sahib resolved to fight for justice for Jathedar Kaunke. Didar Singh Nalvi member of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee said that they would approach the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to register FIR into kidnapping and murder of Jathedar Kaunke on the basis of report of ADGP B.P.Tiwari. He said that they would meet the Chief Minister on January 29 and submit written repersentation.
Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode while addressing the conclave demanded to take back honour of Fakhar-E-Kaum given to former CM Parkash Singh Badal for beteaying the Sikh community. The speakers urged Jathedar of Akal Takht to announce the Fakhar-E-Kaum award for Jathedar Kaunke from the Akal Takht.
Another resolution demanded from Akal Takht Jathedar to summon former CM Capt Amarinder Singh and former Deputy CM and SAD president Sukhbbur Badal at Akal Takht and punish them as per Sikh traditions for keeping the Tiwari report under wrap and letting the guilty police officers without punishment.
The congregation also announced to hold a big conference at Jalandhar on February 10 in which all Sikh bodies would participate. A decision would be taken on lannching an agitation to get justice for Bhai Kaunke.
Bhai Daljit Singh Daduwal former president Haryana Sikh Gurdawawa Parbhandak Committee, Harmeet Singh Kalka president Delhi Sikh Gurdawara Management Committee, Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode former acting Jathedar of Akal Takht, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa president Shiromani Akali Dal(Samyukt), Bhai Mohkam Singh spokesman of Damdami Taksal, Paramjit Singh Sahauli president Sutantar Akali Dal, Karnail Singh Panjoli member SGPC, Khushhal Singh Kendri Shri Guru Singh Sabha Chandigarh, Baba Pardeep Singh Chandpura Sant Samaj, Sarabjit Singh Sihal, Jaspal Singh Sidhu, Manjit Singh Bhoma also addressed the congregation and endorsed the Fakhr-E-Khalsa award for Bhai Kaunke.
The leaders belonging to about 50 more Sikh organisations, Nihang organisations and social bodies attended the function.
