AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami strongly condemned the incident at Patiala and termed it a failure of the Punjab Government.
The SGPC president said that the police administration did not play its due role by ignoring the root cause of the incident, which led to a huge outcry among the Sikh community.
He said that when a Shiv Sena leader made anti-Sikh inflammatory remarks, action should have been taken against him in time.
Mr Dhami said that some people were constantly trying to make the environment of Punjab tense but the government was not serious about stopping them.
He said that some people were in the habit of raising the issue of Hindu Sikhs, but according to the teachings of Guru Sahib, Sikhs respect all religions. The government should crack down on those who want to create divisions in the name of religion.
The SGPC President said that Sikhs were never against any religion but were always ready to help any religion as needed. But when anti-social elements deliberately make statements against the Sikhs, the atmosphere is bound to turn sour. The government should crack down on those who make provocative statements so that the atmosphere in the state remains peaceful.
