SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur strongly condemned the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Paharpur village in Kaithal

AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur has strongly condemned the beadi (desecration) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Paharpur village in Kaithal district of Haryana and demanded action against the accused person.

In a press release issued by SGPC headquarters here today Bibi Jagir Kaur said that incidents of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib were continuously happening in the country and it was unfortunate that despite the arrest of the culprits no concrete action was taken against them. She said that in the latest incident, Sri Guru Granth Sahib has been desecrated by a person in Paharpur village in the Kaithal district of Haryana.

The SGPC through its Sikh Mission Haryana has got a case registered against the accused person identified as Mukhtiar Ram and in addition, the preachers of the Sikh Mission have visited the spot and sent a report.

SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said, "The police administration should take strict action to interrogate the accused so that the forces behind the incident could be identified."

Meanwhile, in-charge of Haryana Sikh Mission Mangpreet Singh said, "As per the instructions of SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, a team led by SGPC pracharak Bhai Navneet Singh was sent to the spot at Paharpur village, which has sent its report.

A case has been registered against the accused at Siwan police station in Kaithal so that action can be taken against him."
