AMRITSAR:Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly objected to the Haryana government's granting of 21 days furlough to Dera Sirsa Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

He said that this decision was detrimental to the communal harmony of Punjab which should be stopped immediately.
The SGPC President said that while the Dera Sirsa chief was serving his sentence on serious charges like rape and murder, it was also directly linked to the descreation of Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Bargari in 2015. This person is a murderer of the religious sentiments of the Sikhs and sadly the BJP government at Haryana and the Center is playing a political game together.

Advocate Dhami said that BJP was not shying away from spoiling the atmosphere of the country and especially Punjab for the purpose of gaining political advantage during the elections.
He said that on the one hand the Dera chief was being interrogated in a case of indecency and on the other hand it was not acceptable to pave the way for his release by getting him out of the jail.
The SGPC President said that BJP did not want to see a peaceful Punjab, that is why Ram Rahim was being brought out.
He said that Sikh sentiments would never tolerate it and it would be strongly opposed.
Advocate Dhami said that the Government of India and Haryana should immediately rectify this mistake and also apologize to the Punjabis and especially the Sikhs for this mistake.
