AMRITSAR: During the General Session of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee held today, the annual budget for the financial year 2022-23 was passed to the tune of Rs. 980 crores. The budget session was held in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Teja Singh Samundari Hall, the headquarters of the Shiromani Committee, which was inaugurated by Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib.
Giani Jagtar Singh, Head Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of Shiromani Committee and 101 members were present on the occasion. The budget was presented by Jathedar Karnail Singh Panjoli, General Secretary, SGPC, which was approved by the members present. Jathedar Panjoli in his budget speech shared the details of revenue and expenditure for various departments and agencies, according to which the estimated expenditure during the year 2022-23 is Rs. 980 crore while the estimated revenue is Rs. 958 crore.
Talking to reporters regarding the passed budget, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Akali Dal said that the Shiromani Akali Dal determines the expenditure in the budget on the basis of its revenue and this time the expenditure should be more than the revenue of around Rs. 29.70 crores. Is estimated. He said that this difference was due to the funds provided by the Punjab government in the educational institutions of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the SCs of the students. Due to non-receipt of scholarship amount. He said that the government should give up its indifference towards the Sikh institution and immediately make this payment to the SGPC. If the government releases this fund then the financial condition of the educational institutions of the SGPC can be further improved. Advocate Dhami said that the budget of the SGPC has given priority to various public welfare works, preaching of religion, simplification of Panthic issues, health facilities and dissemination of education. He informed that under public welfare, four medical stores would be opened at Sri Akal Takht Sahib Sri Amritsar, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Sri Anandpur Sahib, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo and Gurdwara Bir Baba Buddha Sahib Thatta Tarn Taran. And medicines will be provided. At the same time free education, accommodation and food would be provided to 200 Amritdhari Gursikh girls at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. He said that earlier at Mata Sahib Kaur Girls College Talwandi Sabo 200 girls were being imparted free education under this program.
The SGPC President said that on 30th October 2022 the 100th centenary of the martyrdom of Sri Panja Sahib Pakistan would be celebrated with pomp and ceremony for which Rs. 1.75 crore has been set aside in the budget. Apart from this Rs. 5.58 crore would be spent under various funds for the poor and needy, 3.69 crorefor memorials, He said that special arrangements were also made for Gurdwaras in Punjab and outside Punjab, printing of religious literature, assistance to religious soldiers and their families, prosecution of cases of Singhs detained in jails, assistance to families affected by Delhi Sikh massacre and education of children. Funds have been set aside.
The SGPC President said that in addition to encouraging school children for Sikh Heritage Games in the budget, provision has also been made to provide scholarships to Amritdhari Gursikh children. Advocate Dhami informed about the construction of new houses for the pilgrims arriving at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. He said that the priorities of the budget were multifaceted and the SGPC was committed to pursuing Panthic issues, intensifying the Dharam Prachar movement and working for the welfare of the people and would continue to do so.
