AMRITSAR: Prime Asia TV has been accused of deliberately defaming the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in its programs.
A complaint was lodged by the SGPC with the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar to take action against Canadian owner Aman Khatkar, his journalist Jatinder Pannu, Gurpreet Sandhanwalia, cameraman and telecaster under various sections.
Speaking at the office of the Commissioner of Police, Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, a member of the SGPC, said that in the past, Prime Asia TV The allegations against the SGPC have been substantiated through a video and the image of the organization has been tarnished by false propaganda.
He said that TV channel has falsely accused in its program of selling the sacred Chandoa Sahib at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and then bringing that Chandoa Sahib back and decorating it by the sangat. Once decorated Chandoa Sahib is never re-installed. After the decoration of the holy shrine of Guru Sahib, Chandoa Sahib is kept with reverence every day and it is given to different Guru's houses as per the rules and regulations as per the demand of Pradhan . Regular records are kept, while the said TV The channel has made a vicious attempt to discredit the management of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib worldwide without knowing the truth.
He said that the complete information in this regard has been given to the sangat by the SGPC by releasing a video but due to the action of the channel the religious sentiments of the sangats of the country and the world have been hurt.
He said that apart from this the channel has tarnished the image of the Shiromani Committee and the management of Golden Temple due to many baseless allegations. Therefore, the owners of the channel Mr. Aman Khatkar, anchor and journalist Mr. Gurpreet Sandhanwalia, Mr. Jatinder Pannu and others should be charged under Sections 295-A, 500, 120B, IPC 66-A IT Act and strict action should be taken against the culprits.
He said that this channel and especially Mr. Jatinder Pannu had in the past made many unsubstantiated allegations against the Shiromani Committee and the management of Golden Temple, which had caused a lot of resentment among the Sangat.
He said that such people were deliberately spreading propaganda against the Sikh community on social media and the SGPC would not allow anyone to do so. If anyone defames the SGPC without any reason and without facts, he will not be spared.
The Commissioner of Police was received by the Manager of Sri Darbar Sahib, Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Member, SGPC, Secretary to the SGPC, . Mahinder Singh Ahli, Additional Secretary Partap Singh, Bijai Singh, Deputy Secretary. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Secretary Singh, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, A large number of employees, including Nirveil Singh, were present. From the Shiromani Committee officials, DCP S. Parminder Singh Bhandal has received the demand letter and assured immediate action.
