SGPC demands Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib should be re-established on the site of Hari Ki Pauri

AMRITSAR: A high level delegation of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today met the Governor of Uttarakhand Lt. Gen. (retd) Mt Gurmeet Singh.

He called on Gurmeet Singh and handed over a memorandum seeking speedy resolution of the issue. The leaders of the delegation appealed to the Governor of Uttarakhand to intervene in resolving the issue of Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib, a historical site of Sikhs.

Giving information in this regard, the senior vice president of the Shiromani Committee Raghujit Singh Virk said that the SGPC was serious about the issue of Gurdwara Gyan Godri and was making continuous efforts to resolve it.

He said that today the SGPC delegation met the Hon'ble Governor of Uttarakhand and demanded that Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib should be re-established on the site of Hari Ki Pauri so that the issue of this historic site of the Sikh community could be resolved according to Sikh sentiments.

He said that the Governor of Uttarakhand had taken the demand of the SGPC delegation seriously and assured that the matter would be resolved soon.

Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) delegation called on the Governor of Uttarakhand Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Gurmeet Singh.

He also honored Gurmeet Singh. It may be recalled that the SGPC had on several occasions during its general sessions passed resolutions and sent them to the governments of India and the concerned states urging a speedy resolution of the issue of Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib. Apart from this, several leaders of the SGPC have met the Prime Minister of India, the Home Minister and the Chief Ministers of the respective state governments at different times.

In this delegation of Shiromani Committee, Senior Vice President of Shiromani Committee Raghujit Singh Virk, General Secretary Jathedar Karnail Singh Panjoli, Former Senior Vice President Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Incharge of Sikh Mission Raipur.
Gurmeet Singh Saini and Sikh leader of Visakhapatnam Dr. DS Anand was present.
