CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief spokesman Arshdeep Singh Kler today sent a defamation notice to former SAD leader Charanjit Singh Brar for making malicious allegations that the former had filed an affidavit in court in the sacrilege cases asserting Dera Sirsa personnel nominated as accused were innocent.
A similar notice was also issued to Mr Rattandeep Singh Dhaliwal who runs a Youtube channel Talk with Rattan.
In the notice on behalf of Mr Arshdeep Kler by his lawyer, the latter claimed that no such affidavit had been filed by Mr Kler in the Punjab and Haryana high court and that false information had been circulated deliberately to lower Mr Kler’s reputation in the eyes of the general public. It also disclosed that the information, which was in the form of an interview, was also put on social media, to further damage the reputation of the SAD leader.
The notice said Mr Charanjit Brar had also leveled a false allegation that Mr Kler had represented former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in a case.
The notice made it clear to both Mr Charanjit Brar and Mr Rattandeep Dhaliwal that they were both liable for civil action apart from criminal action under Section 420/499/500/501/506 of the Indian Penal Code. They have both been asked to withdraw the allegations and tender an unconditional apology failing which they would be sued for both civil and criminal defamation.
