ROPAR:The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today received a major boost in this assembly constituency with former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Jarnail Singh Aulakh rejoining the party along with his entire team.
Mr Aulakh was welcomed back into the party fold by SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal who recounted Mr Aulakh’s past contributions to the SAD under the leadership of S Parkash Singh Badal. He assured due respect and recognition to the former SGPC member on the occasion.
The SAD president also urged party workers to give one final push to the candidature of former minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema who he said was already leading over his rivals. He said Dr Cheema was best suited for the development of the area and that he would be a senior minister in the next SAD-BSP alliance government.
Mr Sukhbir Badal also talked about how the Congress party had reneged on each and every promise made to the people of the State. “The Congress party has taken the State back by five years. It has done nothing for the people of the State. You have seen how the sand and liquor mafia have had a free reign during Congress rule. Law and order situation has also deteriorated and extortions are on the rise”.
Speaking about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Mr Badal said Punjabis would never repose faith in it. He said it was now proven that AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal had an anti-Punjab agenda. He said the AAP government of Delhi had filed an affidavit in the Supreme court stating that the river waters of Punjab should be transferred to Haryana and Delhi, that the State’s thermal plants should be closed and that criminal cases should be registered against farmers burning their paddy stubble.
