Punjab’s power consumption declines 10.6 % in August

CHANDIGARH: Punjab’s power consumption declined 10.6 per cent to 92875 million units (BU) in August compared to the year-ago period, mainly due to the above normal rainfall in the state .

PSPCL supplied 93875 million units in August 2024 with a daily average of 2996 (MU) . Last year in August 2023 PSPCL supplied about 97185 MU in August with an average daily supply of 3135 MU . It may be mentioned that PSPCL supplied 103885 million units in July this year with a daily average of 3351MU

The maximum supply made by PSPCL in a day this August was 3524 MU on August 8 while last year it supplied a maximum supply of 3329 MU on August 28.In July this year the daily maximum supply was 3666 MU on 22nd. July.

The power supply in August took a dip on August 24 after widespread rain in the last five days when the power demand was between 1839 MU to 2498 MU .

PSPCL's own daily thermal generation on August 24 was 314 MU and on July 24 it was 376 MU. PSPCL's own daily hydel generation in August 2024 was 153 MU and 190 MU on July 24.
