Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Bauli Sahib during the centenary celebrations.

AMRITSAR: Governor of Punjab Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria today paid obeisance at Gurudwara Sri Bauli Sahib during the ongoing events at Sri Goindwal Sahib in connection with the 450th centenary of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji's Guriya Day and Sri Guru Amardas Ji's Jyoti Jot Day. His wife Mrs. Anita Kataria was also present on this occasion. Sri Kataria paid obeisance at the Guru Ghar and expressed his respect by offering Kara Prashad.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, some office-bearers and members honoured the Governor at the Gurdwara Sahib.

The Governor of Punjab stayed at Gurdwara Sri Baoli Sahib for about an hour, during which he also visited the Langar (community kitchen) house.

Meanwhile, addressing the media, the Governor of Punjab Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria said that if the country's religious culture, traditions and culture is protected today, it is because of the Sikh Gurus.

He said that the contribution and sacrifice made by the Sikh Gurus to save the religious culture of the country is immortal in history.

He specifically mentioned Sri Goindwal Sahib and said that here the third Guru Sahib gave the history of ‘One Pangat and One Sangat’ (dining together in community kitchen without any discrimination and congregation) which is a unique example of human equality, where there is no discrimination against anyone.

He said that Guru Sahib's greatness was so great that even Emperor Akbar, who came to Sri Goindwal Sahib, first sat in the Pangat and had food from the community kitchen.

Gulab Chand Kataria said that he is a teacher, the history of Sikh Gurus used to be read in textbooks, but gradually our country has isolated it from textbooks.

The Governor of Punjab said that he has read the life history of Sikh Gurus, especially Guru Gobind Singh, which is very struggling and inspiring. Speaking about Guru Gobind Singh and the martyrdom of his four Sahibzadas, the Governor of Punjab said that he understood that there could hardly be a greater sacrifice than the sacrifice of all the four Sahibzadas to save their religion and Panth.

He told the countrymen to take inspiration from the lives of Sikh Gurus and four Sahibzadas.

He said that he is feeling happy and blessed by participating in the centenary events related to Guru Amardas and Guru Ram Das. Governor Punjab said that by coming here, he has prayed for peace, brotherhood and progress in the country and the state before the Guru.On this occasion, he also thanked the SGPC for welcoming and honouring him.

On this occasion, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the centenary events of the history of Sikh faith are important for the community and it is an important opportunity for the preaching.

He said that during this centenary related to Guru Amardas, it is welcome that the Governor of Punjab has arrived to pay obeisance and reverence to the Guru. In response to a question, he said that during the centenary events, everyone is invited including the prominent personalities.

He said that all prominent personalities who will come here will be welcomed. The SGPC President thanked the district administration for their cooperation on the occasion of the centenary.

Working president of Shiromani Akali Dal Balwinder Singh Bhundar also offered reverence and respect to the Guru and urged the community to follow the path shown by the Gurus.

He said that the Guru's teachings are of great importance to create a comfortable environment in society and eliminate evils. He said that it is the responsibility of the community to take guidance from such centenary days and make serious efforts for the good of Punjab and the nation with Panthic unity.

On this occasion, SGPC general secretary Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, former President Alvinderpal Singh Pakhoke, executive member Amarjit Singh Bhalaipur, member Gurbachan Singh Karmunwala, Surjit Singh Bhittewad, Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Balwinder Singh Vain Puin, Gurmeet Singh Booh, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhyasi, Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale, Sukhwinder Singh Bhuriwale, Baba Avtar Singh Dhattal, secretary Partap Singh, secretary Dharam Prachar Committee Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, assistant secretary Harbhajan Singh Vakta, deputy commissioner of Tarn Taran Sandeep Kumar, district superintendent of police Gaurav Toora, in-charge Satnam Singh Riar, manager Gura Singh, head granthi Giani Gurmukh Singh, Kuldeep Singh Aulakh, Prem Singh and others were present.
