Complete bandh in Phagwara, Nawanshaher, Nakodar and Phillaur paralysed normal life

PHAGWARA: -On a call given by various farmers unions a Complete Bandh was observed in Phagwara, Goraya, Banga, Phillaur, Nawanshahr, Nakodar etc which witnessed deserted look on Monday.

Bus and rail services remained completely suspended whole day. The Northern Railway cancelled 106 mail, express and superfast trains in Punjab. Hundreds of the rail passengers remained stranded in waiting hall of the railway station Phagwara.

Railway Officials told This Correspondent here today that almost all trains could ply to and from Ambala till 4PM.

They said that normal rail traffic could ply only inside the Haryana, Himachal or Jammu-Kashmir.

Vegetable Markets, Grain Markets besides shops and commercial establishments remained completely closed. Moreover most of the Banks remained closed today and the people felt much inconvenience during marriages season as no body could be able to operate their bank lockers even.

The members of The Revenue Patwar Union Punjab, PRTC Employees Union and even Punjab Roadways did not work today to express solidarity with the farmers. Bar Association Phagwara President Karanjot Singh Jhikka and Former Presidents Lalit Chopra, Vijay Sharma and Munish Sareen strongly condemned the Governments for not initiating to solve the problems of the farmers.

In Phagwara activists of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Doaba) led by its General Secretary Satnam Singh Sahni blocked vehicular traffic near Sugar Mills chowk.The local traffic police headed by Inspector Aman Kumar diverted the road traffic from Mehtan bypass via alternative routes of link roads.

The reports of blockade were also received from Phillaur, Ladhuwal Toll Plaza, Behram Toll Plaza, Kathgarh Toll Plaza etc.
