Punjab Youth Congress to sit on dharna outside CM residence on December 10 to highlight failures of AAP government

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Youth Congress would hold a dharna outside the residence of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh on December 10 to highlight the unfulfilled promises of the AAP government after three years of rule. All India youth congress president Uday Bhanu Chib will also attend the dharna.

PYC president Mohit Mohindra said that AAP government was fearing to hold Panchayat and Municipal elections due to backlash of people. He said that elections were announced under pressure from courts. Even Supreme court intervened to force the government to hold Panchayat elections. Now government has announced the local bodies elections on order of High Court.

Mohindra said that Congress party was going to sweep all the five Municipal Corporations and 42 Nagar council elections. He said that youth congress workers were working day and night to ensure victory of Congress. He said that people of state were fed up with the Bhagwant Mann government due to rising menace of drugs, poor law and order and unemployment. He added that AAP had promises to eliminate drugs, illegal mining and bring new investments besides providing employment to 25 lakh youth.

Mohindra said that youths were dying of overdose and reports of deaths are coming from every village. He said government claims jobs were given to 42000 youth which is false claim. He asked the government how many jobs were provided against sanctioned posts and what are the details of youth who got jobs. He said that crime rate in the state was alarming. He cited the example of recent attempt to murder on a Akali leader outside Darbar Sahib. He said that trend started with the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and murders have become a routine now.

PYC president said that AAP had promised to help farmers to improve their economic condition. The fact is that farmers were failed by present government. He said that for the first time farmers had to spend the night of Diwali in the mandis. He said that MSP was not given on crops, and procurement was delayed to force farmers sell their crops at cheaper rates. He said that no steps were taken to bring food processing industry.

Mohindra said that financial position of state has reached at emergency level. The AAP government had promised to reduce the debt of state but it has crossed 3 lakh crores in three years. He said that industry was shifting outside state, and no new industry is coming. He said that an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty was prevailing in the state.

He said that now while AAP government was going to complete three years, it is duty of youth congress to highlight the issues on which AAP sought voters of people of Punjab. He said that youth congress workers in thousands would come to sit in dharna outside CM residence on December 10.
