But the phenomenon that is happening today, the way the farmer leaders who were coming for talks have been taken into custody by the police and their dharnas have been uprooted by taking a big action against the protesting farmers, all this is part of the same episode that has been going on in Punjab for some time now.
He said that the government that emerged from the protests is now trying to suppress democratic values.
Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said that the big question is that when there is a constitutional democracy and justice system in India, then instead of it, committing such openly inhuman acts is a part of which democracy and justice system? Although this justice system has never given justice to the Sikhs, why is the police the court instead of whatever justice system there is?
Jathedar Gargaj said that the experience of the Sikhs is that since the British rule, whenever the police have been given unbridled powers, it has led to the killing of the common people. An example of this is before us that thirty, thirty-five years ago, when the police were given more powers than necessary, they misused them and fake police encounters were conducted against Sikh youths and today the guilty police officers are being punished in the CBI courts in those cases, but today the same atmosphere is being created again. Even today, such fake police encounters are being created, the youth are being hunted. He said that on one hand, the police torture on an army colonel and his family was done and when the guilty policemen are being taken action due to pressure from former and current army officers, the police has become 'unrecognizable'. Similarly, today, the farmers are being tortured.
Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said that if any issue is arising due to the farmers' protest in Punjab, then its solution should be found through dialogue. Because till now all the parties have been going to the farmers' protests and have been taking support from them and today those same farmers are being attacked. In this way, it is felt that instead of the rule of law, there is a police rule in Punjab and this is a very dangerous thing because whenever there has been a police rule in Punjab. Punjab has suffered a long suffering.
He said that the decree of Gurbani is; The king has not done justice, pay attention. The king's job is to do justice and the current rulers have been elected by the people themselves. Therefore, instead of giving justice to those who have voted, the government should refrain from coercion. The government should remember that the farmers' protest being carried out with police force in this way will have a deep and negative impact on the minds of Punjabis.
