Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Assures Support for Border Villages

AMRITSAR: The Governor of Punjab Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria emphasized the crucial role of border villages in protecting the country during his visit to village Kakkar in Lopoke Constituency. He acknowledged the challenges faced by residents and vowed to address their concerns in collaboration with the central and state governments.

Governor Kataria promised to ease farming across barbed wire borders, ensuring CCTV cameras and anti-drone systems are installed for enhanced security. He assured the release of pending compensation for lands affected by the barbed wire. The Governor pledged to provide better educational opportunities, particularly for girls in the area. He promised to strengthen and widen old canal bridges on the border.

Governor Kataria commended the village-level defense committees for their efforts in preventing cross-border smuggling and combating drug trafficking. He confirmed the continuation of prize money for outstanding committees.

During his visit, the Governor distributed sports kits to encourage youth participation and discussed key issues with panchayats from border villages in Tarn Taran and Amritsar. ACS K. Mangat, Jalandhar Division Commissioner Mr. Pradeep Sabharwal, Deputy Commissioner Madam Sakshi Sawhney, Police Commissioner G.S. Bhullar, DIG Mr. Satinder Singh, SSP Amritsar Rural S. Charanjeet Singh , DC Tarn Taran Mr. Rahul and SSP Mr. Abhimanyu Rana and senior officers from various security agencies also present.
