CHANDIGARH: Punjab Police has found a bizzare way to silence the voice of protestors outside venues of functions attended by Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
A letter written by Inspector General of Police, Special Protection Unit has gone viral on social media in which IGP has written to all DCs, SSPs and Commissioners to play Gurbani and religious songs on DJ where ever protestors were seen raising slogans. The IGP has described it a security measure and found playing DJ an important act to stop voice of sloganeering. He told the district authorities to make sure the voice of slogans do not reach the CM.
The letter written by IGP is in stark contradiction of public image of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi who project himself as man of masses and never hesitate to reach out to to protesting employees, teachers and farmers. It is astonishing for many how can CM approve to play DJ at protest sites to gag slogan shouting protestors.
