CHANDIGARH: No tariff hike has been made by the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) in its tariff order for financial year 2025-26 .
The Commission has determined the revenue from the existing tariff is Rs.47985.81 crores net ARR after adjusting the surplus of Rs. 311.50 crores to Rs. 47674.31 crores. The commission has determined a revenue surplus of Rs.311.50 crores for the year 2024-25.
The PSERC has clubbed the two initial slabs of 1to 100 units and 101t0 300 units into one slab of 0 to 300 units. While merging slabs the commission has proposed a rate of Rs.5.40 per unit for 2KW load to Rs.5.40 per unit. For load of 2KW to 7KW the tarff for first 300 units will be Rs.5.72 per unit and for load over 7 KW the tariff for 300 units will be rs.6.44 per unit. The commission claims that there will be no increase in the amount of bills due to clubbing of two slabs. There has been a reduction of variable charges by 2 paisa/unit for consumption up to 500 units for consumers having load up to 20 kW.
For the small and medium supply industry there has been no change. I n case of largs supply industry , only 2 Slabs have been created above 100-1000kVA with reduced Fixed Charges of Rs.210/kW in place of Rs. 220/kW and for f 1000kVA and above with fixed charges Rs. 280/kVAh, which is the lower of the merged slabs.
The Punjab government will pay a total subsidy of Rs.19657 crores consisting of Rs.10413 crores for agriculture, Rs.6859 crores for free 300 units to domestic consumers, Rs 2384 crores for industrial consumers.Small power will get supply at Rs.5.835 per KVAH with full waiver of fixed charges and for medium supply 50% waiver on fixed charges with concessional tariff of Rs.5.835 . For Large supplies there is no waiver on fixed charges.
