AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann as to why he was providing patronage to Mandi Board chief engineer Jatinder Singh Bhangu, who had openly claimed that he had killed fifty persons and had threatened to eliminate an opposition leader.

In a statement here issued from ite party headquarters in Chandigarh; senior leaders Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and Arshdeep Singh Kler said the very fact that the chief minister was providing patronage to Jatinder Bhangu made it clear that such elements were being used by the AAP government to intimidate and even physically eliminate its rivals.

Dr Cheema said it was condemnable that the AAP government had not taken any action vis a vis a complaint submitted by SAD chief spokesperson Arshdeep Kler detailing how Bhangu had asserted that he was an associate of Dibrugarh detainee Amritpal Singh and had killed 50 persons and that four more persons were on his list. “Bhangu even threatened to murder Arshdeep Kler besides asserting that he was an expert at handling grenades”.

Asserting that it was strange why the chief minister was not taking action against Bhangu who claimed he was a close associate of Amritpal and even emergence of audio tapes detailing Amritpal’s criminal activities, Dr Cheema said “this only shows that the AAP government is deliberately working to vitiate the atmosphere in the State”.

Mr Arshdeep Kler said the AAP government had now left him with no choice but to approach the court to secure justice in the case.
