AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has organized a grand Nagar Kirtan from Sri Akal Takht Sahib to the sound of chants, chants and chants with the support of the religious societies and Sangats on the birth anniversary of the fourth Patshah Sri Guru Ramdas Ji.
After the prayer, head Granthi of sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh decorated the holy Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji in a golden palanquin.
School children, gatka parties and brass bands also participated in the nagar kirtan procession.
A large number of devotees present on this occasion expressed their respect by showering flowers. Nagar Kirtan was organized on the route connecting the ancient 12 gates of Amritsar, where the devotees at various places welcomed the Nagar Kirtan. At different places, the congregation-society and the Sangat expressed their respect by giving siropao to Panj Pyare and Nishanchi Singh, while the Sangat also arranged various langars.
The Sangats walking all the way with Nagar Kirtan were paying respect and reverence to the fourth Patshah Ji by chanting Satnam Waheguru.
On the occasion of Nagar Kirtan, the Punjab Police saluted Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Ghanta Ghar Plaza. On this occasion, rose flowers were also showered on Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Nagar Kirtan by helicopter.
Giani Raghbir Singh, Chief Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, who participated in the Nagar Kirtan, congratulated Sri Guru Ramdas Ji on the Prakash Gurpurab and encouraged the Sangat to live according to Guru Sahib Ji's ideology. He said that on the occasion of Guru Sahib Ji's holy birth day, it is the supreme religious duty of all to firmly guard the Sikh doctrines and to be the bearer of Gurmati.
During Nagar Kirtan, apart from the representatives and members of various societies, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Sultan Singh, Chief Granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Malkit Singh, former Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, senior committee member of Shiromani Committee. Bawa Singh Gumanpura, Member Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Bhai Manjit Singh Bhurakohna, Bhai Ram Singh, and other SGPC unctionaries participated in the nagar kirtan.
