Nagar Kirtan, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the release day, reached Amritsar from Gwalior

AMRITSAR: At Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, the Bandi Chodh Divas celebrations of the sixth Patshah Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib began in accordance with Panthic traditions, under which the Nagar Kirtan from Gwalior was warmly welcomed here today.

Dedicated to the 400th anniversary of Bandi Chodh Day, the Nagar Kirtan started from Gurdwara Data Bandi Chodh Fort, Gwalior on October 27 and proceeded through various stages and ended today at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. On arrival at Amritsar, the Nagar Kirtan was given a hearty welcome by the SGPC at the Golden Gate at Bypass. On this occasion the President of the Shiromani Committee Bibi Jagir Kaur presented a handkerchief to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji adorned in Palki Sahib and bestowed titles to Panj Pyare Sahiban. Bibi Jagir Kaur also presented Siropas to other personalities including Pradamsri Baba Seva Singh Khadur Sahib, Baba Narinder Singh Hazur Sahib who arrived with Nagar Kirtan. 

On this occasion a large langar was set up by Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuri and prominent personalities of the Panth including Baba Avtar Singh Sursingh, head of Dal Baba Bidhi Chand, Baba Gajjan Singh Tarna Dal were present. On arrival at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, the Nagar Kirtan was greeted with loud cheers. 

On this occasion Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the day of release of the sixth Patshah Ji is of great significance in Sikh history and on this day millions of devotees come to Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib to pay their respects. He said that on the occasion of Bandh Chodh Diwas tomorrow at 5 pm Giani Harpreet Singh, Executive Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib would deliver a message to the community from the Darshani Deori of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. He said that while dedicating this day, the entire nation should be determined to work together for the propagation of Sikhism and pay homage to Guru Sahib by embracing Bani and Bani. Town

Jarnail Singh Dogranwala, S. Bawa Singh Gumanpura, Bhai Ram Singh, S. Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, S. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, Dr. Amrik Singh Latifpur, Dr. Sukhbir Singh etc. were present.
