AMRITSAR: Vikramjit Singh Sahni, Member of Parliament from Punjab, has successfully addressed the concerns raised earlier this month about the slot timing for the Malaysian Airlines flight from Amritsar to Kuala Lumpur during the summer schedule.
Mr. Sahni revealed that Malaysian Airlines had demanded uniform slot timing for its Amritsar-Kuala Lumpur flights during winter and summer, which is important for the connectivity of their connecting flights. Remember that the Director General of Civil Aviation had given them some separate slots for the summer. On learning about this problem, Mr. Sahni immediately raised the issue with Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Mr. Sahni said that the people of Punjab were worried that Malaysian Airlines might suspend the important Delhi-Kuala Lumpur flight. While this flight plays an important role in trade and tourism not only in Amritsar but across Punjab. So there was an urgent need for action.
Mr. Sahni also said that he is grateful to Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia who acted on my request within three weeks and directed the Airport Authority of India to resolve the matter immediately. This prompt action has averted any potential disruption to this vital flight service.
