PHAGWARA: In a major breakthrough, the district police have successfully apprehended three members of inter-state robbery gangs involved in a spate of thefts and burglaries. The operation, which included the recovery of stolen goods, was conducted in coordination with multiple law enforcement agencies, ensuring a significant dent in the criminal network.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kapurthala Gaurav Tura while talking to this correspondent on Tuesday night said that the police, acting on intelligence inputs, identified and detained several suspects over the past few days. The suspects were reportedly responsible for numerous incidents of theft and burglary, targeting homes, businesses, and vulnerable individuals across the region.
Among those arrested are prominent figures in the network, including mastermind Tejinder Singh@happy resident of village kudduwal, Sanjeev @Bobby resident of kartarpur, and Darshan Singh @Nikka resident of village kurala.
SSP told that during the interrogation, the suspects admitted to multiple crimes and provided information leading to further recoveries.
SSP Tura said the police have recovered one toy pistol, one knife, one screwdriver, and a motorcycle without number from the arrested accused.
SSP Tura highlighted that the gang used sophisticated methods to identify targets and meticulously plan their robberies. Their operations spanned multiple states, causing widespread concern and fear among residents. The suspects primarily targeted remote areas with limited security infrastructure, enabling them to execute their crimes swiftly.
SSP said that a special investigation team (SIT) was formed under the supervision of SP(D) Sarabjit Singh Rai with DSP Parminder Singh and Karnail Singh was formed who are now focusing on gathering additional evidence and tracking other accomplices who remain at large.
SSP Tura has urged the public to report suspicious activities and assist in identifying additional victims of the gang’s operations. The authorities have assured enhanced security measures to prevent future incidents and restore public confidence.
This operation underscores the Punjab police's commitment to combating organized crime and ensuring the safety of residents. Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are expected in the coming days.
