PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | June 17, 2021 05:17 PM

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Sunil Jakhar has asked party cadre to celebrate former Congress President Rahul Gandhi's birthday on June 19 by undertaking social work initiatives across the state.

In a statement issued here, Jakhar said that in view of unbearable pain and difficulties endured by citizens during the second COVID wave, Rahul Gandhi this year has decided to not celebrate his birthday. Rahul Gandhi has also appealed to partymen to avoid any ostentatious activity like cake-cutting, sloganeering and putting up banners or posters to instead utilise the resources to provide help and succour to those in need and those who have lost their source of livelihoods to the Covid onslaught.

Jakhar also said that he has appealed to the whole Congress leadership to distribute medical kits, masks, sanitizers and ration kits to celebrate Rahul Ji's birthday. The leaders could also visit affected families who have lost their loved ones to COVID to provide relief and a healing touch to them.
