AMRITSAR :The service of washing and cleaning of gold at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Sri Darbar Sahib was started today after Ardas. On this occasion the President of the Shiromani Committee Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that special attention is given to the cleanliness and maintenance of the gold at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, the holy shrine of Guru Ram Das Ji. He said that due to rains and pollution, the luster of gold decreases with time, which necessitates cleanliness. This time due to Corona this service has been done after a period of about 2 years.
He said that this service is rendered by Guru Nanak Nishkam Sevak Jatha. The SGPC President thanked the devotees of Guru Nanak Nishkam Sevak Jatha and hoped that they would continue to perform the services of Guru Ghar in the same manner.
Meanwhile, Bhai Inderjit Singh, a servant of Guru Nanak Nishkam Sevak Jatha Birmingham, said that the Jatha had started the service of letters for the first time from 1995 to 1999 and since then they have been engaged in gold washing. He said that this service would continue for about 10-12 days under which the gold on the exterior of the shrine would be washed naturally.
He also said that for washing gold, water and lemon juice are boiled and used. This is a very natural method and does not use any chemicals.
