Dallewal objects to Supreme Court's observations, says "I am not under any pressure"
CHANDIGARH: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal today refused to break his fast unto death and insisted that he was not holding fast under pressure from anybody. Punjab Police officials today met Dallewal and conveyed the orders of Supreme Court asking Punjab Government to provide immediate medical help to fasting leader.

Dallewal turned down the proposal of Punjab government to get medical aid at the place of his fast in makeshift hospital. He also objected to the observations made by Supreme Court that he was under pressure to continue the fast. He said that Supreme Court shall address the issues of farmers instead of speaking the language of center government.

Supreme Court has asked the Punjab government to end the hunger strike of Dallewal before Dec 31 or face contempt proceedings. Supreme Court has observed that this is not just a 'failure of law and order machinery' but also an abetment to suicide. Supreme court has also said that they will not succumb to pressure and would not tolerate 'a violent face' of farmers movement.

The SC bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Sudhanshu Dhulla condemned the Punjab government's handling of situation an questioned why it allowed a virtual fort to be created around protest site. The court observed that it seemed Punjab government seems supporting agitation that may result in death of Dallewal. The court has said it will take strict action against Punjab DGP and Chief Secretary if issue is not resolved before Dec.31.

The farmer leaders have warned the Punjab government from using force to take Dallewal to hospital. The farmer leaders blame AAP government for playing in the hands of center and not supporting their agitation.
