GURDASPUR: As part of the Punjab Government's initiative to waive the arrears of electricity bills up to 2 KW load, special camps are being organized by Powercom in the district for waiver of electricity bills up to 2 KW. K application forms are being filled. In Gurdaspur district 16159 applications were received till October 24, under which Rs. 15 crore 6 lakh 66 thousand would be waived.
Talking about this. Brindarmeet Singh Pahra Constituency MLA Gurdaspur said that the form for bill waiver of eligible applicants has been started. He termed the decision of the Punjab government as historic and said that by waiving the arrears of electricity the poor would get maximum benefit.
He said that the Punjab government would reimburse the PSPCL for waiving the arrears of the people. In addition, all such consumers with an approved load of up to 2 KW whose electricity connection has been disconnected due to non-payment of bill would be immediately connected by PSPCL.
On this occasion SE Circle Gurdaspur Raman Sharma informed that for the consumers whose power connection would not be reconnected, PSPCL has issued new connection as per the required charges (whichever is applicable). The cost incurred in this regard will be borne by the Punjab Government. He said that in order to ensure that every consumer gets the benefit of the aforesaid scheme of the Punjab government, Powercom has organized special camps and ensured door to door filling of applications.
