LUDHIANA: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today announced the name of Charanjit Singh Channi, party's face for post of Chief Minister.
While addressing the rally at Ludhiana, Rahul Gandhi said that people of Punjab wanted to make a 'Poor man' next Chief Minister of Punjab who understands poverty. He said that both Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu are diamonds and party has to choose one of them.
Rahul Gandhi said that it was a difficult decision to make. He said that he consulted the people of Punjab, MLA's and working committee members before taking a decision on CM face. He said that Channi has hunble background.
After announcement of his name, Channi said that he would implement the Sidhu formula with the support ofg people. He said that he had no money to contest elections and people of Punjab will contest his election.
Navjot Sidhu raised the hand of Channi soon after announcement. Sidhu earlier while addressing the rally said that he would accept the decision of party high command.
