Communal compartmentalization’ being engineered by Capt. Amarinder Singh in the Punjab congress; negates the fundamental principle of Secularism: Bir Devinder Singh

CHANDIGARH:It is unfortunate that Capt. Amarinder Singh is now engineering organized fermentation of brazen communalism to achieve his narrow parochial gains with intent to out-maneuver his potential Sikh challengers in the Congress Party. It is exceedingly disparaging to see the disgraceful assemblage of ‘Hindu Leaders’ only at the luncheon meeting, hosted by the Congress Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, yesterday at Chandigarh. The meeting of urban based ‘Hindu Leaders’ was actually the demonstration of Captain’s new brand of communalism and political opportunism to camouflage his colossal failures and rampant corruption in his ‘Mafia regime’.

The Congress ‘High Command’ if there is any, must take immediate cognizance of this hateful development in the body politic of the Congress. It certainly warrants a very strong reprimand for the Chief Minister Punjab who is hell bent to destroy the secular fabric of the Indian National Congress, wedded to the fundamental principle of secularism. I spent almost 39 years in congress and during this period of four decades we were taught that secularism is the principle of seeking to conduct human affairs based on secular, naturalistic consideration. We were also made to follow and strictly adhere to in practice that every citizen, irrespective of which religion he or she practices or follows, is equal in the eyes of laws and policies that govern the Nation. There were never discussions allowed on any of the party forums on the basis of communal lines and any reference to Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims or Christians were strictly objected to by upholding the sacrosanct values of secularism. What happened to the Secular Congress, now in Punjab?

The meeting of the so-called urban based ‘Hindu Leaders’ of the Congress presided over by none other than the Chief Minister himself, is a serious blow to the hypothesis of secularism, as envisaged by the Congress Party. Such a naked exposition of ‘compartmentalized communalism’ certainly calls for the immediate public explanation from the ‘Congress High Command’ to explain the nuance and the construct of the ‘Neo-Secularism’ that is being pursued by the Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh in order to settle his score with the opponents in the party or let the congress ‘High Command’ admit that they are competing with the communalism of the BJP-RSS combine by evolving a new doctrine of ‘compartmentalized communalism’. The narrative calls for a profound study and National debate on the evolving doctrine of ‘neo-secularism’ of the congress with reference to ‘compartmentalized communalism’: a new orientation of the philosophical progression of the Indian National Congress.
