Bhagwant Mann had on December 25 last claimed AAP government brought investment of 86 lakh crores, creating 4 lakh jobs
CHANDIGARH: AAP government in Punjab led by Bhagwant Mann seems to have gone wrong while its ministers have been blaming the agitating farmers for causing unemployment and hindering new investment in Punjab.
Punjab police had yesterday removed farmers dharna from Khanauri and Shambu borders. Punjab ministers had launched a media campaign that road blocakde by farmers was damaging economy of Punjab. No new industry is coming and they are not able to generate jobs for the unemployed youth. This is becoming main reason for youth getting involved in drugs. In a way blaming the farmers for the flourishing of drug mafia in the state.

Punjab Chief Minister had many times made the claims that they have generated over 50000 new jobs in government sector and 4 lakh jobs in private sector. He many times claimed that after AAP government came to power, the exodus of industry to other states has stopped. AAP government claimed that they have been providing cheaper power and best infrastructure to industry. AAP has failed to note the point that large number of migrants are working in industry in Punjab and local youth is not able to get the jobs. AAP government had made the claim that migration of youth to foreign countries has reversed due to better job opportunities in Punjab.
On the investment front Chief Minister had many times claimed that new investment of crores of rupees had came to Punjab after AAP came to power. On December 25, 2024, Bhagwant Mann in a statement reiterated that state govt's commitment to transforming Punjab into an industrial hub, their concerted efforts attracted investments worth Rs 86, 000 crore, creating 3.92 lakh jobs for the youth in the state. The major companies like Tata Steel, Sanatan Textiles, and others committed to invest in the Punjab. Were these claims of investment were fake ?
It is questionable that how over night situation has changed in Punjab and Chief Minister realised that farmers are responsible for all the evils. It is obvious that AAP government had targeted the farmers to cover its failures of three years in power. If investment to the tune of 86000 crore had arrived in Punjab, how can farmers be targeted for stopping the new investment. If Bhagwant Mann had created 4 lakh jobs in the private sector and 50, 000 jobs in government sector, it indicates a good performance. Then how he can blame the farmers for unemployment ?
The action taken by AAP government against the farmers belies the claims made by Chief Minister in the past.
