NAWANSHAHR: After the BJP leaders in Punjab, it is now the turn of political leaders of other parties to face the wrath of farmers in villages in the state. Lok Sabha MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib Manish Tiwari had to face this wrath in the form of a massive protest of farmers led by Doaba Kisan Union, Punjab president Kuldip Singh Wajidpur at Bharta Kalan and Wajidpur villages, near Rahon, where he was to launch some development projects today.

A heavy police deployment had been made by the administration, with SSP Alka Meena herself leading the force. The police had to make all-out efforts to prevent the angry farmers from reaching the site at Bharta Kalan where Tiwari launched the projects.
Farmers were raising slogans against both Modi and Capt governments for their alleged anti-farmer stance. They were also carrying black flags.
Earlier, on learning of Tiwari's proposed visit in their villages, Doaba Kisan Union president Kuldip Singh Wajidpur in a video on social media last evening had urged him to cancel his visit as, as per the decision of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, their outfit wouldn't allow entry of politicians of all political parties in their villages till the resolution of their ongoing Morcha in Delhi and acceptance of farmers' demands including repeal of three contentious farm laws.
" Even MLAs will not be allowed to enter villages from now-onwards by their union in Doaba area of Punjab, " he stated in the video, adding that over 500 farmers had already lost their lives in the agitation in Delhi and all political parties were engaged in politicking only so far.
District president of Kirti Kisan Union, Bhupinder Bains, too said that farmers under the banner of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha would not allow any political activities in rural areas in Punjab till the end of their Morcha.
Another senior farmers' leader confided that the farmers' unions decided against allowing political activities in the state as they feared that any such activities in view of coming assembly poll in early 2022 in Punjab would considerably weaken their ongoing struggle in Delhi, which the farmers could ill- afford at this juncture.
Tiwari later cancelled his programme in Wajidpur in view of farmers' protest and returned to Nawanshahr where he inducted an SAD youth leader Kapil Kirpal and a BJP youth leader Karan Diwan into congress party at the residence of local MLA Angad Singh.
