Akal Takht Jathedar expresses concern over Sikh Youth migrating abroad and migration from other states to Punjab

AMRITSAR: Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib gave a message to the Sikh Panth from the Darshan Deori of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and emphasized on the need to determine life priorities in the light of Sikh history.

He said that the ideology of the Gurus is the heritage of Punjab and the Sikh Panth, because here the Gurus have shown the people a dignified way of living life under divine knowledge by taking them out of darkness and superstitions.

Emphasizing the importance of Sikh Panth and Guru Panth, he said that it is our proud heritage and both of them are living institutions of Khalsa Panth. He expressed concern over the social, political, cultural and economic fabric of the present time and termed the need for self-reflection as important.

Talking about sectarian politics along with the scourge of drugs, natural resources and fundamental rights of Punjab, he asked to make these issues top of the agenda and also emphasized on the need to safeguard sectarian interests and traditions.

He said that at present the number of Sikh youths migrating abroad is alarming due to reduced employment opportunities in Punjab and uncertainty of livelihood prospects. Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, on the contrary, also expressed deep concern over the migration from other states to Punjab and to bring the panthic organization into a chain of unity by erasing the differences and coming together under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

The Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that the happenings at the national and international level are also causing concern for the Panth. In India, which became free with 80 percent sacrifice, those who raised their voices about Sikh rights and issues are being declared as terrorists and kept in jails and Sikhs are being targeted in various countries. In this regard, he talked about the murders of Bhai Hardeep Singh Nijhar, Bhai Avtar Singh Khanda, Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwad and Bhai Ripudaman Singh Malak.

The increasing government interference in Sikh institutions, the issue of de-existence of historical shrines outside Punjab, the immunity of the accused of the November 1984 Sikh massacre by the then Prime Minister and the loss of thousands of innocent Sikhs even after 40 years. Even on not giving justice to the massacre, Singh Sahib was sharpraised questionsIn order to curb the nefarious conspiracies of creating an atmosphere of hatred against Sikhs on social media and other anti-Sikh phenomena, he appealed to the nation to use social media to fight the anti-sect campaign by being aware of conscience and Sikhs. He also appealed to the Sikh panth to follow the teachings given by the Guru and become bearers of Bani and BaniOn this occasion, Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Sultan Singh of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib congratulated the devotees on Bandi Chhor Divas and informed them about the history of this day and encouraged them to contribute to the progress of the panth in the light of Sikh traditions and customs.

Meanwhile, Giani Raghbir Singh and Giani Sultan Singh honored the leaders and representatives of Nihang Singh organizations and sects at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

During the Gurmat events held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on the occasion of Bandichod Day, panth famous ragi, dhadi, kwishar jathas, preachers and poets interacted with the Sangat through Gurbani Kirtan and history.
