-Justice for Sangat and exemplary punishments to the culprits, will be AAP government’s responsibility and top priority: Harpal Cheema

-Said, justice will appease the hearts of millions of devotees around the world

CHANDIGARH: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema accused, Badal-led SAD-BJP government, Captain Amarinder Singh and Congress, of hurting the sentiments of Sikh Sangat for the last 7 years. First sacrilege incidents were carried out, then protesters, who were seeking justice, were killed and now even after 7 years no culprit is punished. He alleged that after many SITs, CBI investigation, probe panels and Justice Ranjit Singh Commission, Justice is not served because as soon as the investigation gets on the right track and pin points towards a certain political family, it is dismissed.

Harpal Cheema said, “Every investigation of sacrilege cases and police firing case, takes a certain direction and that direction doesn’t bode well for a political family and their associates, so, they either didn’t accept the reports or dismissed the whole enquiry. Congress, including Captain Amarinder Singh, is responsible for the delayed justice because Badals and Congress have a long history of saving each other’s skin.” Harpal Cheema said that it is not only the issue of Sikh community of the state because nearly 170 incidents took place between 2015 and 2017 where sacred Granths, Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, Bhagwat Geeta and Holy Quran were desecrated or stolen, and there was circulation of blasphemous posters to agitate the devotees and proved that there was a big conspiracy behind it all to disturb the communal peace of Punjab. Unfortunately, these incidents didn’t cease during the regime of Congress party in Punjab either and lack of justice made the culprits fearless.

AAP leader said that reports submitted by SITs and probe panels clearly mentioned ‘unwarranted’ firing, non-seriousness of police and political interference in the matter. Some reports even suggested the names of Ex-DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, Former Deputy CM and then Home Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Former CM Prakash Singh Badal and others, but the Congress never made those reports public or took any concrete legal action to ensure the justice. He said that after becoming Chief Minister, Charanjit Singh Channi and PPCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu also had the sufficient time to take action in the matter but like their predecessor, they too choose to side with the culprits instead of the people of Punjab.

Harpal Cheema said that it is the vile politics of traditional parties like SAD, Congress and BJP, who seek political mileage from the matters of religion and sentiments of the people. He said that infamous religious oath that Captain Amarinder Singh swore to woo voters in 2017 is an example of it. “But, for Aam Aadmi Party, justice for the ‘sangat’ in the cases of sacrilege and firings will be a responsibility so, we assure the people of Punjab that the justice will be served as soon as AAP formed government in the state, ” He added. He promised to take concrete legal action against all culprits, irrespective of their political approach, behind sacrilege incidents and justice in these matters will appease the hearts of millions of devotees around the world who were hurt due to the happening of these incidents time and again.
