PATIALA:As many as 19496 power consumers in Patiala district have availed the benefit of waiver of outstanding amount of electricity bills, said the deputy commissioner, Mr Sandeep Hans, here, today.
He said that as per the decision of Punjab Chief Minister, S. Charanjit Singh Channi, in Patiala, the outstanding electricity bills of eligible consumers amounting to Rs 21.65 crore have been waived.
He said as per the condition of maximum load upto two KW for availing the benefit, district has identified a total of 1, 22, 118 consumers in this category. Disclosing this here today Deputy Commissioner Patiala Mr. Sandeep Hans called upon the consumers of the district with the approved domestic load of up to 2 KW to avail the benefit of this scheme who owed Rs. 112.5 crore to the power corporation. He said the default amount of these consumers have been locked in their accounts but the benefit can be availed after submitting forms to the nearby Powercom Sub Division office.
To facilitate the consumers of the benefit, Powercom sub divisions in the district have been organising relief camps daily, therefore these consumers should immediately avail the benefit of electricity bill waiver camps being set up by Punjab State Electricity Corporation in its 38 sub divisions in Patiala district, said deputy commissioner Sandeep Hans.
Meanwhile Ravinder Singh Saini, Chief Engineer, Punjab State Power Corporation South Circle said that the benefits announced by the Punjab Government scheme would be extended to its all eligible consumers in Patiala East, West, Model Town, Sub-Urban, Rajpura, Nabha, Samana and Patran divisions.
