TARN TARAN: Shiromani Akali Dal Vice President and former MLA representing Khadoor Sahib assembly constituency, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, has expressed deep grief over the thrashing of Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath, serving in the Indian Army, and his son by some Punjab Police officers in Patiala.
In a press statement issued here, Brahmpura condemned the incident and slammed the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for showing laxity in the matter. "It is very sad that the family of Colonel Bath was forced to stage a dharna and protest to demand justice from the Punjab Police, " stated Brahmpura.
He criticized the AAP government for its blatant insensitivity, especially towards the Indian Army, which he termed as highly condemnable.
He further said, "This is such a poor government which does not respect the Indian Army despite the significant contribution of Punjabis in our army, hence there is no place in the hearts of our Punjabis for such an incompetent government."
Brahmpura criticized CM Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the charge of Home Minister, saying that instead of immediately suspending the concerned officers, he has merely transferred them which is just a charade. "These goonda officers under the guise of uniform have committed a big sin against all our armed forces, which should not be spared, who have brought Punjab Police into disrepute at the global level, " he remarked.
Brahmpura pointed out that such incidents can negatively affect the perception of the Indian Army in enemy countries, especially as our army is being mocked through social media platforms. "Gross negligence and incompetence have an adverse effect on governance and indicate collusion at the highest levels within the state administration, " he added.
Expressing solidarity with the family of Colonel Bath, Brahmpura appealed that all the demands of the family be fulfilled, including a high-level inquiry by a sitting High Court judge or the CBI, to ensure a fair investigation. He stressed, "The Shiromani Akali Dal has always had great respect for the Indian Army, and we must ensure that this matter is not given a political hue."
Mr. Brahmpura concluded his remarks by demanding strict action against the culprits and ensuring justice for the family of Colonel Bath, reinforcing the need for accountability and respect for the Indian Army. -
