AMRITSAR: The Birth anniversary of Baba Deep Singh was celebrated with great enthusiasm here on Thursday. Thousand of devotees paid their obsience at Gurudwara Baba Deep Singh near Chatiwind gate .
A religious diwan ( Congregation) was held in which several raagis dhadis and preachers thrown the light on teachings of Baba ji and recited Gurbani kirtan from early morning till late night. There was a long queue of devotees at the Gurdwara.
The entire Gurdwara complex was tastefully decorated with colourful lights and buntings. The fireworks was also organised in the evening after the bhog of rehraas Sahib path.
An amrit sachaar programme was also organised at the Gurdwara complex in which several devotees took amrit.
Baba Deep Singh was born on 14 Magh Samat 1739 Bk in the village Phuwind in Tarn Taran district in the womb of Mata Jiuni ji in the house of father Bhagta ji. Her childhood name was Deepa. He also received Amrit from Guru Gobind Singh Ji at the age of 18 years old.
Baba Deep Singh's writing were very beautiful. The Guru asked him to prepare four hand written Birs. This work was completed by Baba Deep Singh Ji after the death of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. It took time and sent these Birs to the four thrones.(Takhts).
Baba Deep Singh was also a scholar of Arabic and Persian. He constantly translated Sri Guru Granth Sahib into Arabic. . According to Kripal Singh, it is now preserved in Baghdad University.
Earlier a religious nagar kirtan procession was started from Akal Takht Sahib and after parading in the main bazaars of city it was ended at Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh ji on Wednesday.
