Ulfat Hussain Malik elected president of Young Journalists Association Kupwara

KUPWARA: Young Journalists association Kupwara(YJAK) held its yearly general body election for 2025 on Monday at Dak Bangalow Kupwara.

There were two candidates in fray for presidential post including Ulfat Hussain Malik, consequently Ulfat Hussain Malik was declared winner as he bagged 15 votes of total 18 polled.

Meanwhile Sagar Rafiq who was the single candidate in fray for general secretary post was declared uncontested new general secretary of young Journalists Association Kupwara. Senior Journalist Wasim Majnoon Mir has been unanimously selected as chairman of YJAK Murtaza Mushtaq As vice president, meanwhile Mubashir Gull has been selected as Chief spokesperson and Mohd Hussain Mir As spokesperson.

Speakers on this occasion expressed gratitude to the participating journalists for making the elections a grand success and resolved to strengthen the association, besides to fight for freedom of the press at all levels.

On this occasion, the Kupwara, Handwara based journalists vowed to help in solving the grievances of locals and issued an appeal to the people to contact “The young Journalists Association Kupwara( YJAK)” in case of their genuine grievances.

Newly elected president Ulfat Hussain Malik in his speech thanked all the members for showing faith on him. He took pledge to work for the welfare of all journalists in district.

A committe of five members had been rendered the responsibility of conducting election. The members included. Wasim Majnoon Mir, Tahir Hussan Bhat, And Murtaza Mushtaq.
