MAJITHA(Amritsar): Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said Delhi had never given justice to Punjab and that people could not expect any justice from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which had not implemented a single one of the promises made to the people of Punjab in Delhi.
The senior SAD leader was addressing a public gathering here during the course of which he asked the people to take over his campaign in the constituency so that he could go to Amritsar East and fulfill the wish of its electorate to teach a lesson to the arrogant Pradesh Congress President Navjot Sidhu. While speaking on the occasion, he said Navjot Sidhu did not have one accomplishment to his credit during his last eighteen years in politics. “During this eighteen year period, Sidhu and his wife have been part of the SAD-BJP and Congress governments but have done nothing for Amritsar East. This is why people have appealed to me to contest the elections from there and put an end to their arrogant and self serving rule”.
Speaking about the Delhi Model of AAP, Mr Bikram Majtihia said “the truth is that there is no such model. In fact the Delhi government is riddled with failures. It is unable to even provide potable drinking water to the citizens of Delhi. It failed to establish a single new college or hospital. It has given only 414 government jobs while in office and refused to regularize thousands of contractual employees. Even the promises it is making here, including giving Rs 1, 000 per month to all women, have not been implemented in Delhi”. He also detailed how Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was trying to act innocent and said that he did not know about the pending release orders of Prof Devinderpal Bhullar. “The truth is that Kejriwal has thrice refused to sign these orders despite clear cut recommendations to release him”.
Talking about his political opponents in this constituency, Mr Majithia said “the manner in which two real brothers are contesting the election from the Congress and AAP speaks volumes about their sincerity to their respective parties. It is also in line with the earlier AAP and Congress strategy to play a fixed game”.
Speaking about the Congress government, Mr Majithia said “people are feeling cheated today. They realize they were taken in by the false promises of the Congress party. They have not got anything be it complete loan waiver or ghar ghar naukari , Rs 2, 500 unemployment allowance or mobile phones' '. He said the Congress even deceived the weaker sections by promising them old age pension of Rs 2, 100 and increase in Shagun scheme benefit to Rs 51, 000. None of these promises have been kept”. He also talked about how the future of lakhs of scheduled caste students had been destroyed by the Congress party by denying them SC scholarship.
Mr Majithia also spoke about how the Congress government had tried its best to prevent him from contesting the assembly elections. He said even though two DGPs had refused to register a false case against him, the Congress government brought in ineligible DGP - S Chattopadhyay to book him in a false case. He said even though a false case had been registered against him at Chattopadyay’s instance, the officer had a lot of answer to now with an audio tape surfacing in which he was caught talking to a proclaimed offender cum drug trafficker. “The day is not far when Chattopadhyay will be jailed for his misdeeds”, he added.
