Air India Express commences operations from Port Blair with daily direct flights to Bengaluru and Kolkata

SRI VIJAYA PURM: Air India Express marked a significant milestone with the commencement of daily direct flights from Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) to Bengaluru and Kolkata on Sunday. These inaugural flights mark Sri Vijaya Puram’s addition to the rapidly expanding Air India Express network, strengthening the airline’s presence in the region and enhancing connectivity to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a key tourist destination. Additionally, the airline commenced daily operations from Jammu to Delhi and Srinagar, today.

The first flight from Sri Vijaya Puram to Kolkata took off at 08:35, followed by the inaugural flight from Sri Vijaya Puram to Bengaluru at 13:50. To mark the occasion, the airline hosted celebrations at Sri Vijaya Puram Airport, featuring decorated check-in counters, sweet distributions, and the ceremonial presentation of boarding cards to the first guests of both flights.

Similar celebrations were held at Bengaluru and Kolkata airports to mark the inaugural flights to Sri Vijaya Puram, underscoring Air India Express’s commitment to providing enhanced connectivity between the Andaman Islands and major cities.

Starting 1st January 2025, Air India Express will begin services to Chennai, further enhancing connectivity from Sri Vijaya Puram. Additionally, the frequency of the Kolkata service will increase to twice daily starting 15th December 2024.

This achievement reflects the airline’s rapid expansion, supported by its growing fleet, which now boasts 90 aircraft, with a new addition joining every week.

From Sri Vijaya Puram: Air India Express operates 21 weekly flights from Sri Vijaya Puram connecting directly to two domestic destinations including Bengaluru and Kolkata. The airline will connect the city to Chennai with direct flights from January 1, 2025.

From Bengaluru: Air India Express operates 374 weekly flights from Bengaluru connecting directly to 25 domestic destinations including Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Gwalior, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Ranchi, Sri Vijaya Puram, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam and two international destination, Abu Dhabi and Dammam. Additionally, the airline provides one-stop connectivity to four domestic destinations: Agartala, Amritsar, Imphal, and Srinagar and 12 international destinations including Al Ain, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, Riyadh, Salalah, Sharjah, and Singapore.

From Kolkata: Air India Express operates 160 weekly flights from Kolkata connecting directly to 14 domestic destinations including Agartala, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), Surat, and Varanasi. Additionally, the airline provides one-stop connectivity to 11 domestic destinations: Delhi, Goa, Gwalior, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam and nine international destinations including Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Riyadh, Sharjah, and Singapore.
