AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly condemned the caste-based painting of Gurdwara Sahib at village Chounda in Amargarh constituency and requested to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to take stern action against such people who were creating divisions in the society.
In a press statement issued from the SGPC headquarters here today the Deputy Secretary of the SGPC Mr Kulwinder Singh Ramdas said that the Sikh Gurus preached communion by eradicating the leprosy of caste from the society.
He said that Guru Sahibs showed the way to live with dignity by eliminating the caste divisions in the society. "But even today some people are dividing the society into castes due to dwarf mentality, " he said.
He said that while the officials of Panchayat department were responsible for this incident, the inaugural MLA was also equally responsible for this divisive act in the society.
