SANGRUR: Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, on Monday, said that Punjab Government has empanelled Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Sangrur, a unit of Tata Memorial Centre Mumbai, for cashless treatment upto Rs 5 lakh under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana. Health minister also announced to upgrade Bhawanigarh's Community Health Centre (CHC) to 50 bedded Subdivisional Hospital.
Mr. Sidhu was here in the district to take stock of the medical facilities being provided at the government health institutions. Accompanied by school education and PWD minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla also visited government health institutions at Sangrur, Bhawanigarh, Nadampur, Channo and Phaguwala village.
Sidhu also lauded the efforts of PWD minister for keeping regular tab on medical health facilities and said that the under the able guidance of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Singla has succeeded to develop Sangrur as medical hub of the region. He said that besides revamping the building of Sangrur Civil Hospital, a proposal for setup of Trauma Centre at Bhawanigarh is also under consideration of the government. He added that Mr. Singla is in regular contact with Union Government for set up of Trauma Centre.
Health minister said that the government is going to extend advanced medical facilities under PPP model in the government hospital that would ensure availability of CT scan , MRI, Cath labs in district hospitals.
Meanwhile, cabinet minister Vijay Inder Singla, while expressing gratitude towards health minister for giving nod to several proposals of health department at Sangrur, said that special efforts are being done by him to elevate the health standards in the state. He added that the proposal of setting up medical college in Sangrur has been drafted by Punjab government which would be soon sent to centre for approval. He added that OPD has been successfully operational at satellite centre of PGI from the last two years and soon the indoor facilities will also be started there. He added that empanelment of Cancer Hospital under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, would also ensure availability of affordable cancer care for the patients.
On this occasion, ADC Rajesh Tripathi, Dr. Ambumani, Chairman Improvement Trust Naresh Gaba, Mahesh Kumar Meshi, Harkesh Chand Machhli Kalan among several other dignitaries were also present.
