Two time councillor Bibi Surjit Kaur is SAD candidate from Jalandhar West constituency.

CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today announced the candidature of two time councillor Bibi Surjit Kaur, wife of late Jathedar Pritam Singh, for the Jalandhar West (reserved) assembly constituency by-poll.

Disclosing this, senior leader Bibi Jagir Kaur said a decision to this effect was taken by a four member committee constituted by party president S Sukhbir Singh Badal to decide on the party candidate. The other members of the committee are Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi and Mohinder Singh Kaypee.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said Bibi Surjit Kaur came from a panthic background and her late husband - Jathedar Pritam Singh had served as a councillor once. She said Surjit Kaur herself was known for her her social works and service to to the community. “I am confident the people will support a hard working party leader from Jalandhar West”, she added.
