CHANDIGARH: The Youth Akali Dal's flagship initiative, 'Meri Dastaar Meri Shaan, ' has now gone international, as SAD leader Lakhvir Sangha is set to organize a 'Dastaran Da Langar' camp at Gurdwara Kalgidhar Darbar in Winnipeg, Canada, on 25th January.

In a statement released here, Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer said, "Inspired by the successful organization of 'Dastaran Da Langar' camps across Punjab, our overseas members have decided to take this initiative further by organizing a camp in Winnipeg, Canada."

He further added, "We have been conducting these camps to reconnect our youth with Sikhi and have inspired hundreds in Punjab to start tying turbans again. With a significant Punjabi population in Canada, our Akali leader Lakhvir Sangha and his team has taken the initiative under 'Meri Dastaar Meri Shaan' to encourage young Punjabis abroad to embrace the turban—the symbol of pride bestowed upon us by our Guru Sahibs."

Jhinjer expressed his happiness at the international expansion of the initiative, stating, "I am delighted to see our efforts in raising awareness about turbans and the Sikh Panth reaching the global stage. Our brothers in Canada are now taking the lead in returning to their Sikh roots. This is a commendable step by Lakhvir Sangha and his team, and I hope other youngsters will be inspired to start wearing turbans with pride regularly."

The 'Meri Dastaar Meri Shaan' initiative has not only strengthened cultural roots but also fostered a sense of pride and identity among Sikh youth. By organizing such camps globally, the Youth Akali Dal aims to create awareness about the rich heritage and spiritual significance of the turban, encouraging the younger generation to embrace their cultural values with confidence and dignity.
