Sikh Representative Bhai Sawinder Singh Joins Maryland Leaders in Governor’s Interfaith Council

MARYLAND: On the invitation of Maryland Lt. Governor Aruna Miller, Bhai Sawinder Singh, Hazuri Ragi of Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar, attended the recent Governor’s Interfaith Council meeting, where faith leaders from diverse communities came together to discuss shared challenges and promote unity.

Bhai Sawinder Singh has been a resident of Maryland for the past 25 years and actively contributes to interfaith programs, dialogues, and community initiatives across the state. His participation in the council meeting emphasized the Sikh principles of equality, seva (selfless service), and universal brotherhood, which align with the council’s mission of fostering interfaith harmony.

Following the meeting, Lt. Governor Aruna Miller shared on social media, “Bringing together members of all faiths to address community challenges is essential. Our Interfaith Council reflects our belief that genuine progress occurs through collaboration and partnership. Together, we can foster positive change!”

Bhai Sawinder Singh highlighted the importance of interfaith dialogue, stating that such engagements help build understanding and strengthen collective efforts to serve humanity. He expressed appreciation for the Governor’s initiative in bringing diverse faith communities together for meaningful discussions and collaboration.
As a council member, Bhai Sawinder Singh has joined the Food Security Committee and the Interfaith Council Relations Committee. He emphasized that according to State regulations, he will collaborate with his community on behalf of the State to ensure effective resource allocation.

The Governor’s Interfaith Council serves as a platform for promoting understanding and cooperation among religious communities. The participation of faith leaders like Bhai Sawinder Singh highlights the ongoing commitment to unity and service in Maryland. He affirmed that faith communities must come together to support one another and enhance collective understanding, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected.
