AMRITSAR: Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala former raagi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and mukh sevadar of Sikh Sadbhawna Dal said that At Denver Airport in America, we were stopped. They asked us to remove our turbans for a security check and said that if we didn’t comply, we would not be allowed to board the flight.
However, refusing to remove our turbans, we said that we would rather leave America for the sake of our turban than get on the plane, because our turban is more valuable to us than our lives.
As a result, our tickets were canceled. Now, it is essential that Sikh organizations, Singh Sabhas, and institutions in America immediately contact the U.S. government to firmly address this serious issue. The matter is about the turban, which is the identity of Sikhi.
Bhai Wadala in his post on his facebook page said that If the turban is gone, then what value does life hold? So, where is the shortcoming? Who is at fault—the government, airport authorities, or Sikh leaders and organizations? Gurdwara committees? What happened to us today could happen to someone else tomorrow. This is humiliating. We were harassed for five hours.
