NURAMAHAL:The Nurmahal police have arrested a travel agent for duping a Nurmahal
village resident woman of Rs.15 lakhs on the pretext of sending her
son abroad.
The investigating officer (IO) and Nakodar deputy superintendent of
police Lakhwindar Singh Ball said that the accused has been identified
as Tarsem Singh alias Laddi son of Mohindar Singha resident of the
Jandiala village under Sadar Banga police station Shaheed Bhagat
Singh Nagar.
The investigating officer said that Jaswindar Kaur wife of Manga Singh
a resident of Gorsian Peeran village had complained to
Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP ) that she paid
Rs 15 lakhs to the accused and his four accomplices for
facilitating her son’s migration to Canada but he was not sent
abroad nor returned the money.
IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420
(cheating) and 120-B(criminal conspiracy)of the Indian Penal Code
(IPC) and Section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Act was
registered against the accused and four others .
