CHANDIGARH: Mohali police today arrested Rabinder Narayan, Managing Director of PTC News Channel on charges of sexual assault and other criminal charges on a complaint filed by a contenstant of PTC Punjaban competition.
The arrest was made in a case registered in FIR No2. dated 17.3.2022 U/S 341, 342, 343, 354, 354-A, 354-B.354-C, 328, 420, 120-B against Rabinder Narayan, Nancy Ghuman, Niharika Jain Assistant Director PTC Miss Punjaban, Bhupinder Singh Managing Director JD Residency hotel Mohali, Producer Lakshaman and 22 others.
Mohali police in a statement said tyhat the case was registered on the complaint of Gian Singh father of a girl who was particiapnt in the PTC Miss Punjaban contest. Gian Singh had on March 15 approched Punjab and Haryana High Court for rescue of his daughter from JD residency hotel where she was taken captive and being forced for sexual favour or Rs.12 lakh to remain in competition. The High Court had appointed a warrant office and girl was rescued. Gian Singh had alleged that PTC management had demanded Rs.50 lakh for release of his daughter from capticity.
The girl approached the woman police station on March 17 and submitted complaint against Rabinder Narayan and others. She said that whe had cleared pre and mega rounds of beauty contest. All girls were called to hotel JD residencey on March 10 for PTC Miss Punjab contest final round. She alleged that rehersals were completed at 11 PM and they were taken to hotel where members of PTC group misbehaved with her and asked for sexual favour ti remain in contest. The PTC group members were using code names for each other who were calling girls to a room and indulging in sexual assault. The girls were asked photographed in objectionable position.
The complainant also alleged that girl members of PTC group were involved in drugs smuggling and flesh trade. The girl informed her father and sought help to get her out of hotel.
SSP Mohali had set up SIT and after initial investigation the statement of girl was registered under section 164 of IPC on 5.4.2022. The Mohali court had rejected the bail application of Nancy Ghumman another accused in tis case. She is now absconding.
Police said that Rabinder Nath was arrested from Delhi and teams are conducting raids to arrest remaining accused.
Meanwhil Mohali court has remanded Rabinder Narayan on two days police remand.
