PHAGWARA: In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, the CIA staff of Kapurthala Police has arrested a 27-year-old man and seized 1 kilogram of heroin, ₹90, 000 in cash believed to be drug money, and a white Toyota Innova Cresta (registration number PB-01-B-0078). The accused, identified as Anmolpreet Singh, a resident of Main Bazar, Jamsher in Jalandhar district, was apprehended during a routine patrol.
The operation was conducted under the directives of SSP Kapurthala Goarav Tura (IPS), following instructions from Sarbjit Rai (PPS), Superintendent of Police (Investigation), and Parminder Singh (PPS), Deputy Superintendent of Police (Detective). Inspector Jarnail Singh, in charge of the CIA staff, led the team.
SSP Gaurav Toora while giving the details said that during the patrolling, the police intercepted Anmolpreet Singh near Kapurthala and recovered one kg Heroin, Drug Money: ₹90, 000, Vehicle: White Toyota Innova Crysta A case has been registered under FIR No. 02, dated January 16, under Section 21(c) of the NDPS Act.
SSP Toora said the arrested accused Anmolpreet Singh, was a taxi driver by profession, has a history of criminal activity. He was previously booked under FIR No. 234, dated November 8, 2023, for robbery (Sections 379-B, 34 IPC) at Police Station Jalandhar No. 6. During interrogation, he admitted to being involved in drug smuggling and revealed that the recovered heroin was meant for distribution.
Further Investigation Underway Police are actively investigating the case to uncover the drug supply network and identify other individuals involved. SSP Gaurav Toora assured that strict action will be taken against those engaged in drug-related activities.
The seizure and arrest mark another milestone in Kapurthala Police's ongoing campaign against anti-social elements and drug trafficking.
