Convent school director among two arrested for voyeurism, conspiracy

PHAGWARA: The Mehat Pur police have arrested a convent school director and his relative on the charge of voyeurism (the act of gaining sexual pleasure through watching or recording someone in a private act) and criminal conspiracy.

Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar said that the accused had been identified as Albin Antony, a native of Kerala State and Director of St. Jude Convent school Umre Wal Billa village, and his relative Sharo Shiju (19), also a native of Kerala State, who is presently living at Guru Gobind Singh Avenue Jalandhar and staying in Umre Wal school.

The father of the victim complained to the police that his daughter who is studying at School went to attend a nature call on October 25 morning where the accused Sharo recorded her video sitting on a wall in the bathroom.

The complaint said he went to school where the vice principal refused to listen to him saying he was busy in preparation for a function and the school principal and director were out of the station.

He said he along with prominent citizens met the director who said he would inquire and let them know.

The complainant said he inquired himself and came to know that the accused Sharo Shiju committed the crime, and the school director has allotted him a room adjoining the women’s bathroom and action should be taken against both.

DSP said a case under sections 77(voyeurism)and 61(2)(criminal conspiracy ) of the BNS and sections 13, 14, 15 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2019 has been registered against the accused Inspector Seema is conducting further investigations.
